I worked with one particular buyer last winter (before the tax credit expired the first time around...) and just have to toot his horn! On an earlier post, I had mentioned that people who have a vision can really get a great deal on a home (if it's condition or decor is less than desirable.) And oh, did this guy ever!
Adam, the buyer, told me he was handy and was willing to take on a project. When he bought this large 1930's style house, I knew he was attracted to its large rooms, huge windows, high millwork, front and back porches with walls of windows, built-ins and high ceilings. What I did not fully realize was JUST what he had in store for the home, until he sent me this pictures this week.
He did much more than I can show here, so I tried to take OLD pictures of a certain room and compare it to his NEW pictures. You can maybe get a flavor for the project here, below.....
UPPER HALL - AFTER
DINING ROOM - BEFORE
(The hutch on the right is built-in.)
DINING ROOM - AFTER
(He removed the drop ceiling, added crown moulding, painted the millwork, updated the lighting, and refinished the floors.)
DINING ROOM - AFTER
(Being used as a makeshift kitchen while the kitchen is under renovation.)
LIVING ROOM - BEFORE
(Notice the drop ceiling.)
LIVING ROOM - AFTER
(Removed drop ceiling, added crown moulding, pulled up the old carpet, refinished the hardwoods and painted the millwork.)
The icing on the cake for Adam? He got it all done for less than $8,000....his tax credit! That excludes the work he is presently working on in the kitchen. Adam is getting married this summer and has a beautiful new home for starting married life.
Great job, Adam! Yours is one fun story to tell about how having a vision can save you a ton!
